Overnight rain has attributed to even more flooding in the Kosciusko County area. Fortunately, there are now two locations in the county for residents feeling the affects of rising 
 
waters to get sand and sandbags to prevent damage to properties.

Floods In China

 China’s worst seasonal flooding for a decade has left more than 2,100 people dead or missing country-wide and has necessitated the evacuation of a more than 12 million others, according to Chinese government sources. Reports say that to date, the flooding, triggered by unusually severe monsoonal rains, have caused tens of billions of dollars in damage across 28 provinces and regions of China. The current flooding is reported to be the worst experienced in China since 1998, when more than 4000 people died and 18 million people were displaced.

Typhoon Bopha hits Philippines, killing 27 people and destroying homes

An intense typhoon thumped into the southern Philippines on Tuesday, destroying homes, setting off a landslide and killing more than two dozen people, authorities said. Typhoon Bopha struck the large southern island of Mindanao, which is rarely in the direct path of tropical cyclones, fueling fears that it could be as devastating as a storm that killed more than 1,200 people there almost a year ago. Bopha, the most powerful typhoon to hit Mindanao in decades, had top winds of 175 kph (110 mph) as it came ashore over the city of Baganga early Tuesday. During hurricane season and times of flooding, the City of Gulfport provides sandbags free to the public.  In the event of an imminent hurricane, tropical storm, or during periods of heavy rain, you may request sandbags from the Department of Public Works.  The limit on sandbags is 25 per customer/residence. SOSAVE sandbag is dedicated to producing and supplying instant sandbags for emergency use.  Once you have placed your request, you can pick up your sandbags at the Department of Public Works.  Refer to Home Page for - Directions to Public Works.
